Baseball Sweeps Gators; Games Three and Four Moved to Tuesday

Dylan O Connor

Bellevue College baseball rebounded from a disappointing season opener last weekend with a 15-4 and 9-0 sweep over Green River in a doubleheader held at Bannerwood Stadium.

In the opener, Bellevue put up nine runs in innings three and four. In the fourth, singles by Remy Heckman, Josiah Santiago, Troy Baunsgard, Eunsang Yu, and Bryce Lindberg gave the ‘dogs all the run support needed by Jacob Dahlstrom, who struck out eight and walked only one while giving up one unearned run on the mound for Bellevue. Santiago was 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI’s.

In the nightcap, Dylan O’Connor tossed a no-hitter before being removed due to his pre-designated pitch count limit. The righty struck out seven and was in pitcher’s battle for a brief moment in a 0-0 tie through three innings before the Bulldogs were aided by 15 walks by Green River pitchers. Parker Cumberland was the lone hot swinger for BC going 4-for-5 including a triple.

The second doubleheader scheduled for Sunday February 27 at Hogan Park in Kent has been re-scheduled for Tuesday March 1 at Hogan with a tentative 1:00 first pitch. Rylen Bayne and Jacob Kaepernick are slated to start on the mound for the Bulldogs.
