I-405 Lane Closures Continue In Bellevue Through Friday

BELLEVUE, WA — Drivers who take late-night trips on Interstate 405 should plan for another week of lane closures in downtown Bellevue as state transportation crews continue placing new girders for the new Main Street Bridge and Eastrail pedestrian bridge over the freeway.

The overnight closures resumed Monday and will conclude Saturday morning, blocking southbound lanes for the first half of the week, and northbound lanes for the second half.

Here is the schedule for this week’s work on I-405

  • Monday, Aug. 15, to the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 17 – All lanes of southbound I-405 between Southeast Eighth Street and I-90 will be closed nightly from 10:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 17, to the morning of Saturday, Aug. 20 – All lanes of northbound I-405 between Southeast Eighth Street and Northeast Fourth Street will be closed nightly from 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

The work is part of the “Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project,” which required contractors to demolish the old Main Street Bridge in June to allow space for widening the freeway. Its replacement is scheduled to be complete before the end of the year, featuring safety improvements for cyclists and pedestrians.
