Women’s Soccer Ends Season With Win Over Highline

In a season marred by injuries and no playoff berth for the first time in years, Bellevue College women’s soccer ended the season on a high note, knocking off first-place Highline 1-0 today at home. Celia LaGuardia was a perfect 9-for-9 in saves in the box today for Bellevue, shutting out Highline in a game that fell in BC’s favor. While Highline got off nine shots on goal, Bellevue managed only two. But it was Brianna Hugus’ shot that counted just prior to halftime at the 37:33 mark on an assist by Natalie Hawkins that proved to be the game winner.

Bellevue ended the season just three point shy of a playoff berth with a 5-5-2 record (6-8-3 overall). The game also marked the final match for third-season players Alexis Lamb and Maddy Drye, who were able to return this fall after the delayed and covid-shortened 2021 season last spring.
