Janssan Paces Men’s Basketball to Tourney Sweep

Bellevue College men’s basketball’s freshman Australian sensation Aydan Janssan led Bellevue College to a 92-78 win over Treasure Valley this morning in the final day of the SW Oregon Crossover Tourney in Coos Bay, OR. Janssan was 9-for-11 including 3-for-5 from three-point range in a 22 point performance.

Although shooting at a hot clip of 51% in the first half, the Chukars kept within striking distance, down only 43-39 at the half. Treasure Valley then staged a comeback and even took the lead 72-71 with 7:14 to go. The Bulldogs were only temporarily stunned as the ‘dogs then went on a 17-3 run to take control.

Maui Sze, who has often been BC’s leading scorer, showed his value to the team today as the major contributor in other areas with six rebounds, a team high eight assists, and two steals while still chipping in 10 points. Terrell Peter was 6-for-9 from the field and had 13 points for the Bulldogs.

Bellevue left the tourney with a clean sweep winning all three games and now stand at 10-2; good for a tie for the the top team in the region along with Skagit Valley. The Bulldogs will take a holiday break before entertaining Highline at home on December 29th at 4:00 p.m.
