The B-52s To Begin Farewell Tour In Seattle

SEATTLE, WA —The B-52s, who bill themselves as the “World’s Greatest Party Band,” have announced details of their farewell tour this summer, and it is set to begin in Seattle.

The 11-stop tour is scheduled to start on Aug. 22 at McCraw Hall at Seattle Center. A presale for tickets to the 7:30 p.m. show began on Wednesday. Tickets go on general sale at 9 a.m. on Friday. The Seattle show will feature special guests The Tubes.

The B-52s have sold over 20 million albums during their over 45 years as a band and are best known for songs like: “Rock Lobster,” “Dance This Mess Around,” “Private Idaho,” “Love Shack,” “Roam” and “Deadbeat Club.”

“Who knew what started as a way to have some fun and play music for our friends at house parties in Athens (Georgia) in 1977 would evolve into over 45 years of making music and touring the world. It’s been cosmic,” B-52s’ co-founder Kate Pierson told Jambands.com.

The B-52s also will be supported by KC & The Sunshine Band during a portion of their farewell tour.

“No one likes to throw a party more than we do, but after almost a half-century on the road, it’s time for one last blow-out with our friends and family … our fans,” said B-52s’ co-founder Fred Schneider. “And with KC & The Sunshine Band and The Tubes on board, it’s going to be one hell of a farewell party at these concerts.”
