Amazon recently announced that they opened applications for their Artist in Residence program for 2023. Office space will be offered in the Bellevue and Seattle offices.

The company is offering $15,000 grants and 10-weeks of free studio space. The program is intended for local artists that are interested in expanding their portfolio and immersing themselves in Amazon’s global community.

“We’re delighted to host yet another group of talented local artists in our studios, as we enter the sixth year of our artists residency program,” said Christine Phelan, senior program manager of Expressions at Amazon. “We actively recruit artists from diverse backgrounds to build a supportive and inclusive program and this year will be no different. We look forward to providing this year’s residents the tools they need to encourage creativity, community and innovation through art.”

There are 8 new openings for selected artists in Seattle and Bellevue. The studios feature more than 1,000 square feet of space. Each participant will lead two employee events and create one unique piece of art to be featured on the Amazon campus at the completion of their residency.

The program places emphasis on relevance, with priority for art that is responsive to and engages with diverse audiences, themes and ideas. They also want artists who focus on inventive processes, bold concepts, approachability to diverse audiences, and active engagement with others about their art.
