‘GiveBIG Eastside’ Kicks Off 48-Hour Fundraising Campaign Tuesday

REDMOND, WA — Eastside neighbors will have a chance Tuesday and Wednesday to kick in a few bucks to help support nonprofits across the region, as the annual GiveBIG online fundraising campaign enters its final stretch.

New this year is GiveBIG Eastside, organized by OneEastside SPARK, is the first regional version of the larger statewide campaign and concentrates support on more than 200 nonprofits operating in nearly two dozen Eastside cities and towns.

“Nonprofits are a critical part of our community,” said Kristina Hudson, CEO of OneRedmond and a founding partner of OneEastside. “Our GiveBIG Eastside marketing and educational programs have been developed to assist our nonprofit leaders to maximize this opportunity for their organizations.”

The statewide initiative began on April 19, but the big push arrives during the last 48 hours of the campaign, which this year runs from May 3 to May 4. Last year, donors helped raise more than $17 million to benefit 1,600 nonprofits across the state, and organizers hope the regional effort will help boost the amount that goes directly to Eastside partners.

According to the campaign, 211 Eastside organizations are participating this year, including the Kirkland Arts Center, the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank and Eastside Baby Corner.

“Eastside Baby Corner has participated in GiveBIG every year because we believe we are stronger together,” said Helen Banks Routon, the nonprofit’s director of development and community relations. “The leadership of OneEastside SPARK in helping nonprofits — big and small — from our Eastside region is truly appreciated.”
