King County 211 Launches Free Lyft Ride Program

KING COUNTY, WA — King County residents living in areas with less access to public transportation may be eligible for free Lyft rides under a new program launched last month. King County 211 unveiled its “Ride United” program in January, which offers rideshare trips for residents in need who live outside of Seattle city limits.

The program covers up to $22 in each direction for eligible Lyft rides, in partnership with the United Way. Trips can be booked up to three days in advance by calling 211. Eligible destinations include trips to vaccine appointments, as well as non-emergency rides for medical, employment, housing and food needs.

“This program will create more equitable access to transportation in the community,” said Tiffany Olson, the manager of King County 211. “Proving access to rides will help community members that have been disproportionately hurt by the pandemic. We are proud to partner with Lyft and support transportation access across the county.”
